Naya Kanga Peak Climbing.

Formerly known as Ganja La Chuli, Naya Kanga (5,844 m) rises to the west of Ganja La, and is a popular but difficult mountain to climb. The normal route to this peak is via the snowy north–east ridge. It is not yet certain who climbed this summit first. The most important reward of climbing Naya Kanga is the spectacular view of mountains in or near Tibet.

This trek is strenuous therefore a high level of physical fitness is essential. A strong sense of adventure, and the willingness to walk 8 to 9 hours a day, often at high altitudes is required of climbers. A basic knowledge of mountain climbing is an advantage, although our experienced Sherpa guides will guide and accompany you to the top. Magnificently situated in the remote and rarely visited valley of Langtang, Naya Kanga is a shapely mountain that rises to the west of Ganja La Pass. Its accessibility makes it an ideal choice for a short visit to the Himalayas, allowing the climber to experience some superb mountaineering, in little less than 3 weeks, as it stands within 30 kilometers of the Kathmandu Valley. Climbing the mountain, you will trek through a number of interesting Sherpa villages. After establishing a ‘high camp’, you will follow Naya Kanga’s northwest ridge to the summit.

Great views of Jugal and the Langtang Himals await you on the summit. This route requires little technical climbing experience, but involves some steep snow and ice slopes. Approaching Naya Kanga Base Camp, you drive to Dhunche Bazaar and trek along the narrow gorge of Langtang Khola to enter the wide-open valley of Langtang at Ghora Tabela. Hiking at a leisurely pace, you take about 1 week to arrive at the base camp. This easy pace allows you to get well acclimatized for the climb. Depending on weather conditions, it may take 4/5 days to complete the climb and make a quick descent to Syabrubesi in 3 days, from where you will be transported back to Kathmandu.
