NEPAL -Country Information

 

Location :- Between India & the Tibetan Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China.

Area & Population :- 147,181 Sq. Km & approximately 22 million

Latitude & Longitude :- 26'12' and 30'27' north & 80 degree 4' and 88 degree 12' East

Capital :- Kathmandu

Nepal Occupying only 0.1% of the Earth. Is Home to:

  • 2% of all the flowering plants in the world
  • 8% of the world's Population of birds (More than 848 Species of Birds)
  • 4% of Mammals on earth
  • 11 of the world's 15 families of butterflies(More than 500 species)
  • 600 indigenous plant families
  • 319 species of exotic orchids
  • 8 of the world's 14 Highest peak (More than 8,000m).

Political System :- Multiparty democracy with constitutional monarchy.

Vegetation :- Nepal possesses some of the most outstanding bio-diversity in the world, ranging from sub-tropical Rain-forests to Alpine Deserts.

Climate :- Climate ranges from sub-tropical in the low lands to Arctic higher altitudes.

National Bird & National Flower :- Impean Pheasant (Danfe) & Rhododendron Arboreum (Lali Gurans)

Flora and Fauna :- 840 different species of wet-land, migratory and residential bird, 8% of the world's population of birds.
